Cadillac files for LTS trademark - hints at XTS successor?

Cadillac has filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to use the LTS moniker on an upcoming model.

This doesn't necessarily mean the company will actually use the name, but Car & Driver points out that General Motors is pretty conservative when it comes to trademarks. Unlike BMW, who trademarks everything under the sun, General Motors has a tendency to file paperwork for names they intend to use on production models or concepts.

As such, the magazine speculates the name could be used on the rear-wheel drive sedan that will replace the XTS. It will likely ride on the Omega platform and slot somewhere between the BMW 5- and 7-Series.
