2014 Volkswagen Touran comes into focus - rumors

The Volkswagen Touran is one of Europe's best selling minivans and new details are starting to emerge about the redesigned model.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, the next-generation Touran will debut in late 2014 and ride on the MQB platform which could enable it to weigh 100 kg (220 lbs) less than its predecessor. It will reportedly be about the same size as today's model, but have sportier styling and possibly a long-wheelbase variant.

On the inside, we can expect to see additional standard equipment and the EasyFold seat system from the Sharan.

Under the hood, there should be a variety of fuel-efficient engines. More specifically, the magazine reports the 1.4 TSI will be offered in a 140 PS (103 kW / 138 hp) version with cylinder deactivation technology that should reduce its fuel consumption by about 0.4 L/100 km.
