New Mercedes S-Class spied with less camo

Our spies have been on the prowl and they have caught the best shots yet of the new 2013/2014 Mercedes S-Class. The latest shots show a prototype that is wearing the least amount of camouflage that we have seen.

It reveals a bit more of the of the grille, headlights and bumper that make up the front fascia. The design was thought to be following in the vein of the styling seen on the F125 and F800 concepts, but it seem the idea has been scrapped. Looking particularly at the grille, we can see it strikes a similar pose to the F700 Research Vehicle that was first unveiled way back in 2007.

Engine options are expected to mirror the current model, albeit with some updates and modifications that will improve fuel efficiency and emissions. These should include a 250 CDI, a S350 CDI, a S300 Bluetec hybrid and S400 Bluetec hybrid. The S500 (aka S550), S600, S63 AMG and S65 AMG are also set to be retained in the line-up.

Following the unveiling of the S-Class sedan, we should expect a long-wheelbase sedan and a coupe just like the current generation. But they will also be joined by a cabriolet that replaces the current CL-class and an ultra-luxurious Pullman that replaces the Maybach brand.
