Amongst a flurry of spy photos and official teaser sketches in recent weeks, the Kia K9 was spotted completely free of camouflage on a motorway in South Korea. The attached two videos give us clear, although in low-resolution, front and rear views of the Opirus/Amanti successor.
The K9, codename KH, is the all-new range topping rear-wheel drive sedan designed by Kia's Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer. The former Audi designer once admitted in an interview that the K9 will have styling inspired by the Maserati Quattroporte. Besides the ornamentation on the front fenders, we fail to see any resemblance.
Since the K9 is based on the Hyundai Genesis, engine options will likely include a 3.8-liter V6 with 333 hp (248 kW / 338 PS), a 4.6-liter V8 with 385 hp (287 kW / 390 PS), and a 5.0-liter V8 that develops 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS).
The Kia K9 is expected to be revealed for its domestic market during the fall of this year.
