This is not the 2013 Maserati Quattroporte [UPDATED]

The first purported pictures of the next-generation Maserati Quattroporte have hit the web ahead its launch sometime next year.

The first purported pictures of the next-generation Maserati Quattroporte have hit the web ahead its launch sometime next year.

Looking elegant and expressive, the images - legitimate or rendering - reveal a luxurious sedan with soft lines and gently flowing curves. The front end borrows a few cues from the GranTurismo but adopts a rounder grille and headlights which mimic the Kubang concept. Unfortunately, the rear is a bit of mess with a number of components which look like they were lifted from the Mercedes E-Class.

As we have previously reported, the Quattroporte is expected to ride on an aluminum-intensive platform and be slighter larger than the current model. Engine options remain unconfirmed, but speculation suggests there could be a 475 hp (354 kW / 482 PS) 4.7-liter V8 or a twin-turbo version of Chrysler's Pentastar V6. Regardless of which powerplant makes it into production, it will likely be paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an optional all-wheel drive system.

[UPDATE] This is why WCF readers are sharp as tacks. They catch photoshop fraud and take the time to prove it too. Big thanks to aleiiakensington for bringing this phony Quattroporte to our attention. He says in his post below: "it's a fake. the first picture shows a chopped interior of the avalon's interior. check out the c-pillar through the windshield. not only does it not match the design of the exterior's c-pillar, it is also a mirror image of the c-pillar from this picture: http://www.netcarshow.com/toyota/2011-avalon/800x600/wallpaper_03.htm the second picture also shows how fake this is. the interior seen on the second pic is again a mirror image from the avalon press photo: http://www.netcarshow.com/toyota/2011-avalon/800x600/wallpaper_0c.htm why do people that make these photochops check the quality of their work?"
