The 5.0-liter V8 engine with 575 supercharged horsepower is about to find its way underneath the hood of Jaguar's first ever SUV.

Jaguar Land Rover through its Special Vehicle Operations division has already “warned” us about the introduction of additional SVR-badged models in the years to come. The first of the bunch will likely be this, a go-faster version of the F-Pace set to sit on top of the SUV’s range. Likely coming out in 2017, the F-Pace SVR has been caught on camera for the very first time testing in prototype guise.

At first you might be tempted to say that it’s an ordinary F-Pace S judging by the dual exhaust tips, but the extra mesh on the camouflaged front bumper is hiding larger air vents. In addition, just look at the size of those beefier brakes and the slightly lower ride height. Perhaps the most revealing clue resides inside the cabin where the disguised prototype spotted ‘Ring testing had a full roll cage. That obviously won't come with the production car, but it's a sign of a hotter derivative on the F-Pace's agenda.


We already know what will power the F-Pace SVR: a mighty supercharged 5.0-liter V8 shared with the other two members of the SVR family, the F-Type SVR and the Range Rover Sport SVR. The meaty eight-cylinder engine packs 575 horsepower in the high-performance coupe/cabrio and it will likely be bumped to the same output in the inbound facelift for the Range Rover Sport SVR. The strong motor has 516 pound-feet (700 Nm) of torque on tap, so it should transform the F-Pace into an absolute rocket, but only if the F-Pace SVR will indeed be blessed with the full power of the supercharged V8.

It goes without saying the F-Pace SVR will easily eclipse the current flagship of the range, the F-Pace S in gasoline-powered specification. The latter is rocking a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with 380 hp (280 kW) enough to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) task in 5.5 seconds before maxing out at an electronically-capped 155 mph (250 kph).

Following the F-Pace SVR’s launch, Jaguar will likely give its sleek XE the SVR treatment as well to enable the go-faster sedan rival the likes of Mercedes-AMG C63, BMW M3, and the upcoming Audi RS4.
