It's early. It's cold. It's awesome.

Long before the pomp and circumstance of the annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance kicks off, there's a very special part of the infamous Sunday morning known as Dawn Patrol. Every one of the concours entrants drives onto the lawn, and it's stunning to see these beautiful machines moving under their own power, owners behind the wheel often dressed in period outfits.

The event gets its name because it starts before dawn – like, get-there-at-5:00-AM-to-get-a-good-spot before dawn. And being Monterey, the weather is notoriously cloudy, foggy, and chilly. But as soon as the cars fire up and start driving through the crowd, none of that matters. It's absolutely one of the coolest parts of the Pebble Beach Concours experience, and indeed worth waking up for.
