Honda Details New Civic Hatchback, Hitting Showrooms in September
The success of the new Honda Civic and Civic coupe has been unfounded. The company has sold over 32,000 units month-over-month since March of this year. And that success is only bout to get even bigger with the introduction of the new Civic hatchback. Expected to his U.S. dealerships sometime in September, the hatchback will carry over many of the same cues found on the original concept. The grafted front end, the edgy wheels, and the sleek rear are just some of the details remaining. RELATED: See Photos of the 2016 Honda Civic
The Civic hatchback will be offered in five different trims: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring. All of which will use the same 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, but with two different tunes and two transmission options.
Buyers can opt for the 174-horsepower LX, EX, and EX-L trim, or the 180-horsepower Sport and Sport Touring package. A six-speed manual gearbox will only be available on the LX, Sport, and EX, with a CVT standard on all others.
Early estimates pin the hatchback at somewhere near 40 mpg highway and 31 mpg city (34 overall). Price will be given closer to the vehicle’s release date next month.
