Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO
The Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO (internal R5) is a racing car developed by Audi in 1989 for the American IMSA GTO race series.
It had previous successes in rallying and also won the United States Trans-AM series. Tthe superiority of Quattro drive is also demonstrated on the street. It is the only factory racing car based on the Audi 80/90 B3.
The 90 quattro IMSA GTO uses one of the Audi Sport quattro S1 Pikes Peak driven derived turbocharged 5-cylinder aluminum engines with displacement of 2.2 liters. Up to 530 kW are produced (720 PS).
Although the body of the 90 quattro IMSA GTO has similarities with the series model Audi 90, the body consists of a tubular space frame, on which the outer skin is applied plastic. The weight has been reduced to 1,206 kg. Compared to the standard version, the race car is greatly broadened and with a rear spoiler, on fast tracks with a two-story rear wing, fitted.
