Seat Leon ST Cupra 280

The first Seat Leon SC Cupra 280 made its debut in 2014, turning heads in the hot hatchback market with its 276 horsepower and sleek design cues. Less than a year after the Leon SC Cupra 280 set the record for fastest front-wheel-drive production car at the Nurburgring with a time of 7 minutes and 58.4 seconds, Seat introduced a station wagon style Leon, adding even more practicality to the already impressive hatch. Base MSRP $32,500

From the outside, there are very few noticeable differences between the SC and the ST other than the noticeably larger rear end. Some new aero parts have been introduced including a new rear diffuser, new roof spoiler, and black exterior mirrors. Larger 19-inch bespoke wheels compliment the car’s lines very nicely. Cupra lettering on the brake calipers and large oval exhaust tips are also nice touches. A rear windscreen and tinted side windows as standard are a luxurious feature as well. Also available from the factory is the Sub8 Performance Package, giving the ST unique 19-inch, multi-spoke alloy wheels, larger Brembo brake calipers, and paint-matched side skirts.

The interior is a new, unique cabin of its own featuring extensive updates including a sports steering wheel with paddle shifter for the DSG transmission and sport seats that are wrapped in Alcantara. Other enhancements include a 5.8-inch color touchscreen, LED ambient lighting which can be customized using the Cupra Drive Profile, and aluminum doorsill and pedals. The storage room offered from the ST is immense, with 20-cubic-feet in the boot, expanding to an incredible 52 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.

Sharing the same engine as the Leon SC, the ST packs a 2.0-liter, turbocharge 4-cylinder pushing out 276 horsepower and 258 ft-lb of torque. Both a 6-speed manual transmission and DSG gearboxes are available. Reaching 60 mph takes around 6 seconds and can accelerate to an electronically limited top speed of 150 mph.
