Ford Deluxe Woody Wagon

In June 2005, Isle Capri Casinos, Inc. of Biloxi, Mississippi, partnered with the late, great Boyd Coddington to build this 1940 Ford Deluxe woody station wagon to promote the casino chain’s many properties to automotive enthusiasts across the country. The build project was featured on Discovery Channel's American Hot Rod, and the completed car was exhibited at appearances by Boyd and his wife Jo at select Isle of Capri Casinos properties throughout 2006. They could not have chosen better; Boyd Coddington was at the apex of his career, having earned no fewer than seven America's Most Beautiful Roadster awards at the annual Grand National Roadster Show among many other accolades. Boyd’s treatment on this build involved subtle alterations to the metalwork, specifically the altered windshield surround to accommodate a one-piece windshield, frenched headlights, a smoothed and louvered engine compartment and a custom smoothed dash panel. The car’s high-performance Chevrolet 350 CI small-block V-8 was built with dual inline four-barrel carburetors and other components from the Edelbrock catalog, and breathes through Magnaflow exhaust. A 4-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel independent suspension, power rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes complete the mechanical specifications. Custom Tan leather upholstery is the perfect complement to the gorgeous interior woodwork, and is joined inside by a Boyd Coddington steering wheel, tilt column, air conditioning and a neat vintage-style gauge cluster. Coddington’s insistence on quality is evident in every detail of this interpretation of Ford’s classic woody, especially in the excellent Pastel Blue paint and glowing woodwork. Completed with chromed bumpers and riding low over Boyd Coddington wheels and wide radials, the build of this fabulous Forty Ford is documented with a Certificate of Authenticity from Chris Coddington.
