Cadillac CT6

At the 2015 New York Auto Show, Cadillac finally answered everyone’s questions about Cadillac’s new project, the CT6. Making its debut, the CT6 is set to compete with the likes of smaller German sedans, with a larger CT8 in the works to take on the likes of the Audi A8 and the BMW 7 Series. Base MSRP $75,000

Surprisingly, the CT6 was not based on the Elmiraj Concept’s styling as most of the media had predicted. The new CT6 features a more pronounced dash-to-axle ratio along with a shorter front bumper overhang, emphasizing the rear-wheel drive and luxury-car proportions. Vertical headlights are the highlight of the front end, framing the unique grille in a similar way to the ATS and CTS. Large, 20-inch wheels emphasize the luxuriousness. Keeping with typical Cadillac styling, the rear end has no unnecessary lines that might disturb the smooth and angular styling.

With a new year comes a new interior, and Cadillac has trumped the previous lineup with the CT6. The center console features two touchscreens, a 10.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display for Navigation and entertainment controls and a smaller touchscreen that takes place of the classic instrument cluster. A third touchpad is located on the armrest of the driver. Other technological perks that Cadillac has crammed into this car include a 360-degree camera which can view around the vehicle along with a night vision system that has the ability to detect people, large animals, or other obstacles that could be a pose a potential risk of an accident. An audio system from Bose features 34 speakers and there is also a quad-zone climate control system.

Under the hood, a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6 makes up for the lack of a V8. Producing 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, there is plenty of power to compete with the CT6’s German rivals. Reaching 60 mph takes around 6.5 seconds and will continue going up to an electronically limited 155 mph. There will also be a turbocharge, 2.0-liter four-cylinder as well as a 3.6-liter V6 when the car goes on sale in 2016.
