GMC Terrain Denali

Crossovers are making their way into every manufacturer’s lineup, and GMC was one of the first to offer a midsize crossover. With the new Terrain Denali, the model lineup now consists of the SL, SLE, SLT, and the top of the line Denali. This new refresh of the GMC Terrain Denali consists of visual updates to both the interior and exterior that GMC hopes will rejuvenate the overall car. Base MSRP $24,500

A new front and rear end help to distinguish the new Terrain from previous generations. Enhancements include a three-bar grille with a black honeycomb insert to contrasts beautifully. New LED daylight running lights are wrapped in a C-shaped chrome ring that connects in the center of the bumper. Accenting the taillights are more chrome accents as well as a chrome strip on top of the bumper. Larger 18-inch or optional 19-inch wheels bring a more balanced look to the side view. For 2016, two new color options are available: Crimson Red Tintcoat and White Frost Tricoat.

In order to refresh the car, GMC had to do something about the interior. A revised center stack has new hard buttons to control the infotainment system and the door lock button has now been moved from the dashboard to the door panel. A revised shifter brings an upscale look to the cabin and includes manual shift buttons on top. All Denali models have the option of a new Light Titanium and Jet Black color combination. The new Terrain Denali also receives updates to its safety systems, such as Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The two engines available remain the same for 2016, the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine making 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque, or the 3.6-liter V6 producing 301 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque, both being paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Regardless of the engine choice, customers are offered the standard FWD or the optional AWD. Getting to 60 mph takes 8.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 125 mph.
