Ford Focus RS (US)

After 13 years, Ford has finally given us a model truly worthy of the RS badge. The third-generation Focus RS will be manufactured in the very same plant as its predecessors, but this will be the first RS model to be sold worldwide. This all-new Focus RS is set to really raise the bar for Ford in the performance-hatchback marketplace. Base MSRP $37,850

It is clear to see that the Focus RS has gone through a full overhaul from the standard Focus hatchback. Sporting an incredibly aggressive body kit that more than meets the standards for an RS badge, the new Ford hatchback is ready for streets or a rally right from the factory. A new trapezoidal grille has been paired with a front splitter that shows a clear view of the large intercooler hiding underneath. Large openings on both sides force air into the wheel well, cooling the front brakes. The front end also has redesigned fog lamps mounted next to the air vent openings.

As one would expect from looking at the new Focus RS on the outside, the interior is full of track-ready features. Recaro sports seats come standard as well as a flat-bottom steering, all embroidered with RS badges. At the driver’s feet, alloy sport pedals match perfectly with the new shifter featuring matching graphics and an additional instrument cluster that is mounted on top of the center console. This cluster displays the oil temperature, oil pressure, and boost pressure. As far as comfort goes, the new RS has a number of features including SYNC connectivity, satellite navigation, and a climate control system, all paired to an 8-inch touchscreen that can also be used with voice commands.

Only one drivetrain is offered with the new Focus RS, a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that offers 315 horsepower. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, a new and improved air intake, and a new exhaust with electronically controlled valves help to get the new RS to 60 in 4.5 seconds and will accelerate up to an electronically limited 155 mph.
