Ford Custom Roadster Pickup
Deuce coupes and roadsters may be the archetypal hot rods, but there are other 1932 Ford body styles that lend themselves to the task. This nice little custom roadster pickup is one such creation.
Power comes from a 350-cubic inch Chevy small block with high-rise intake manifold and dual Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors. The transmission is a sturdy Powerglide two-speed automatic. Coil-over-shock independent front suspension teams with rack-and-pinion steering; the live rear axle is suspended on oil-over-shock trailing arms.
The steel bodied pickup had its bed shortened to achieve satisfactory hot rod proportions. It has a highly-varnished wood floor with chrome rub strips. The cockpit is finished in a tan leather and cloth combination. The cab has been reworked for suicide doors, which have no side windows, and the top is removable as a single piece. It has a headliner of heavy fabric material. The original oval instrument panel has been fitted with VDO gauges, and a modern tilt steering column mounts a leather-wrapped Grant wheel. There are dual remote outside mirrors on the windshield posts. Center Line chrome wheels are mounted with B.F. Goodrich T/A tires, with P205/70R14 in the front and P255/70R15 at the rear. The complete undercarriage is painted in the magenta body color. Tidy from top to bottom, this intriguing roadster pickup custom promises a payload of fun.
400 bhp, 350 cu. in. Chevrolet OHV V-8 engine, two-speed automatic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with coil-over-shock trailing arms, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 106.5 in.
