From Ford press: In today's fuel conscious environment, the Ford Escape offers customers versatility and strong fuel economy.
For 2007, Escape adds two fresh appearance packages that add a touch of class and pump up the excitement. The XLT appearance package includes painted silver metallic fascias, bodyside cladding and wheel lip moldings, with three new exciting exterior colors. The XLT Sport models get an updated and upscale monochromatic appearance package.
The five-passenger SUV is available in XLS Manual, XLS, XLT, XLT Sport and Limited trims in front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions. Buyers can choose one of two engine options, a 2.3-liter I-4 and a 3.0-liter V-6. It is produced at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Mo.
The Ford Escape offers two engine options - an economical and smooth Duratec 23 four-cylinder engine or the eager 200-horsepower Duratec 30 V-6. The 2.3-liter Duratec 23 4-cylinder engine has surprised customers with its combination of power and fuel economy. The engine develops 153 horsepower and 152 pound-feet of torque, while a balance shaft provides exceptional smoothness. The four-cylinder engine is backed by either a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.
Standard on XLT Sport and Limited is the 200 horsepower Duratec 30 V-6 engine.
The available automatic Intelligent 4WD System provides excellent traction and stability with a smooth, fuel-efficient operation, even in slippery conditions. The computer-controlled system operates so seamlessly that its engagement is barely noticeable to most drivers. Escape is also available in a front-wheel-drive configuration.
Known among enthusiasts for its hallmark driving character on pavement, Escape is the only small SUV designed to pass the rigorous Tough Truck testing given to all Ford trucks and SUVs.
