Along with the Javelin, the truncated AMX was American Motors Corporation’s other entry into the “pony car” market spawned earlier in the decade by Ford’s Mustang and Chrysler’s glassback Plymouth Barracuda.

Although a bit of a “sleeper” - the stubby AMX two seater did enjoy some success in competition.
