Renowned Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro created the Manta to attract attention to his then-mew design house. The exotic car originated as a Bizzarrini P538 that debuted at the 1966 24-Hours of Le Mans Race, but reportedly did not finish.
Giugiaro transformed the Bizzarrini into the Manta by replacing the original coachwork with a new body having an extreme wedge profile and central driving position.
The iconic green color helped distinguish it as one of the most dramatic cars of the 1968 Turin Auto Show, where it debuted with great acclaim.
