Go Green: One-Of-A-Kind McLaren P1 Heads to Auction in Monterey

Few cars come around like the McLaren P1. A monstrous hypercar limited to just 375 examples ever, it’s a vehicle that will live on forever in history as one of the greats. Most of us will never own such a vehicle, but the opportunity is there to snatch up one secondhand…if you have boat loads of money. At Mecum’s upcoming Monterey Auction, the firm is offering up only the second McLaren P1 ever built. Series number 000002 only has 576 miles since new, and one very questionable color scheme; green. Green everything. RELATED: See Photos of the McLaren P1 Hypercar

It’s not painted, but rather, “tinted” carbon fiber exposing the additional green pigments. To match the body color, the owner went ahead and threw on some matching green 19-inch front, and 20-inch rear wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires. The interior follows a similar scheme. A green carbon fiber dash sits front and center, with green accents to the air vents and steering wheel, and a green stitching contrast to the otherwise lovely black leather seats. But just because it’s ugly doesn’t mean it isn’t fast. RELATED: See Photos of the New McLaren 570S Sports Car

The twin-turbocharged hybrid 3.8-liter engine produces a walloping 903 horsepower, sending power to all four wheels via a dual-clutch gearbox. And with only 576 miles on the odometer since new, that powerful engine has barely even been broken in yet. Estimates have it going for between $2,500,000 - $3,000,000, when it crosses the block in Monterey, California, the weekend of August 18th.
