Mazda Showing Off New MX-5 Icon Edition at Goodwood
Mazda is set to unveil a new, special edition of its iconic MX-5 Miata at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. This version of the MX-5 is the first special edition of the generation to be based on their new 1.5-liter model. Mazda is calling it the Icon edition, and gave it spiffy red accents on the door mirrors, spoiler, front splitter, and stripe decals. A choice of either Meteor Grey Mica or Crystal White Pearlescent paint will be available. The Icon edition also has black leather seats, and upgrades like automatic headlights, wipers, and rear parking sensors. RELATED: See Images of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata
This is the fourth time Mazda has built an Icon edition of the MX-5. Previous model years were 2000, 2005, and 2007. This year's version will be the most limited of the lot. Their current plan is to build only 600 units for the UK. Deliveries are due in early August at a price of $29,700.
Mazda plans to show more than just the MX-5 Icon at Goodwood. They will also be displaying the MX-5 Speedster and Spyder concepts for the first time outside of North America. Those two cars first made the scene at SEMA last November. The new RF hardtop and the one millionth MX-5 made will also be on display.
