Hungry For Nostalgia? The Domino’s Pizza DeLorean is For Sale
When you hear the name DeLorean, what’s the first thing you think of? Probably not Domino’s Pizza. But in 1981, then owner of Domino’s Pizza, Tom Manoghan, thought it a good idea to buy a brand new DMC-12 and use it as a
spokesperson spokescar for the company. Now the alleged car is for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $19,000 (per this writing).
But first, a little bit of history. As mentioned, the car was purchased brand new in 1981, and immediately sent to a paint shop where it was stripped of its iconic stainless steel exterior in place of something a bit more 'brand friendly.' Pictured here, it doesn’t feature the original Domino’s logo on the door, but still wears the white, blue, and red (orange?) color scheme.

After a short stint as a PR tool for Domino’s in the ‘80s, it was put in a private museum by the owner for a number of years, before being auctioned off in 1992, and purchased by the current seller in 2002. It currently calls Arkansas home.
There’s only 7,300 miles on the odometer, and “everything on the car is in working order,” says the listing. The original 6-cylinder engine and automatic transmission are in still in tact, as are the original tires, which the seller admits, should probably be replaced. There are only a few minor issues to take note of, like a missing gas cap and some wear and tear on the exterior—but don’t worry, some "extra parts" are included in the purchase.

If you’re interested in buying but worried about legitimacy, it’s worth shooting the seller a quick email. At worst, it’s a real, working DeLorean, with matching VINs and a unique paint scheme. At best, it’s a driving piece of pizza history.
