Watch a Tesla Model S Race a Boeing 737

The Tesla Model S can't take to the air (yet), but it can fly down the track at impressive speeds given torque and all. In celebration of a new partnership between Qantas and Tesla, they decided to pit a Boeing 737 against a Model S on the runway to see which was faster. The partnership involves offering customers special events for Qantas frequent flyers. Qantas customers will have the chance to experience Tesla products while Tesla owners will have access to Qantas Club memberships and exclusive charging facilities in Australia. With Qantas being the official airline of choice for Tesla and all, the two companies will be holding meetings in Australia on a regular basis to further their partnership. And since they are working together, they took advantage of an empty strip of runway to pit a Qantas Boeing 737 against a Model S P90D. The video is staged just like a race between two cars as the driver and pilot strut across the runway to take their positions. The countdown begins and the two take off. Watch and see if the car outruns the plane or if the plane leaves the car in its wake. RELATED: See Images of the 2010 Tesla Roadster TAG Heuer
