The Bugatti Chiron Hits The Streets Of New York City

Bugatti's $2.6 million Chiron hypercar has arrived in New York City, and theories abound as to why it's there. Did it come for a slice at Joe's on 14th? Maybe it had tickets to a Knicks game with Spike, or maybe it just wanted to take a leisurely stroll on the High Line. Whatever the reason for the Chiron's visit, it's made a splash just by being there, an impressive feat in a city that rarely gets excited about anything other than the Yankees, and Louie C.K. With 1,500 horsepower, and 1,180 lb-ft of torque, the Chiron may not be particularly well suited for the streets of Gotham. This is a town full of the worlds most powerful taxis, and garbage trucks, all ready to merge at a moments notice. These impressive machines are capable of filling a gap in traffic faster than you can say "EY!", and you better believe they're not going to give the right of way to some fancy pants out of towner. On top that, the quality of the streets of New York are somewhere between post-apocalyptic Detroit, and London during the industrial revolution. Driving a Chiron on such streets has to be about as enjoyable as spending a day driving a Daihatsu Charade around the Nurburgring.  RELATED: Check Out Photos Of The 2017 Bugatti Chiron

If you haven't taken a minute to browse the Chiron mini site, you should go ahead and do so now, take your time, I'll wait. Not bad right? I'm partial to the Blue Carbon color exterior color scheme, but Black/Gold is a close second, gaudy though it may be. After all, if you were going to drop $2.6 million on one of these, might as well make it as ostentatious as possible. Perhaps the proper color combo is Red/Black, which brings to mind classic Bugattis of the early 20th century. I have to admit that I wasn't much of a fan of the Veyron, impressive as it was, it never struck me as a pretty car. The Chiron on the other hand is striking from every angle, and has many design traits that link it to works of art like the Type 57sc Atlantic. The futuristic spin on the art deco styling of vintage Bugattis is what will make the Chiron a timeless hypercar, while entires from the competition are just a flash in the pan.
