Hennessey Cranks the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V Up to 1,000 HP

With 556 horsepower on tap, the late-great Cadillac CTS-V was one very powerful and expectedly fast car. With 640 horsepower at the ready, the all-new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is an even more formidable machine.  But 1,000 horsepower? Surely that’s just too much. That is, not unless you ask Texas tuner John Hennessey. His outfit, Hennessey Performance, recently elevated the racy Cadillac CTS-V up to a screaming 1,000 horsepower, plus a variety of different flavors in between, including 757 and 800 horsepower tunes. The following clip showcases the more modest of the trio, Hennessey’s HPE750 package, that said, it’s still an absolute tire-melter of a car. Take a look. According to Hennessey, the baseline HPE750 package nets its power from a requisite ECU tune, supercharger pulley upgrade, high-flow air intake, stainless steel headers and mid-pipes, a new high-flow catalytic converter, and a new air-to-water intercooler. As the clip shows, that combination is good for dashes to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds (0.5 seconds faster than stock), a climb to 150 mph in 15.4 seconds, and a quarter mile time of just 11.2 seconds. Top speed? If you can keep your foot pinned long enough and if you’ve got a big enough runway, you’ll hit 210 miles per hour. That is frankly a very substantial lump of performance, but for those who want more, the HPE1000 package beckons with its colossal four digit power output. In HPE1000 guise the Hennessey Cadillac CTS-V swaps the supercharger from its LT4 V8 for a new 2.9-liter unit, along with forged pistons and rods, a custom camshaft, ported cylinder heads, plus all the goodies of the former kit. Hennessey has yet to announce more performance figures for the HPE1000 package, but we’d imagine it isn’t a slow poke. Need even more power still? There is always the last-gen Hennessey CTS-V VR1200 package, what with its 1,226 horsepower, but that might require permission to launch and a space suit. Prepare for blast off.
