This Stunning, 600HP Supercar Was Designed by a Watch Company

99.9 percent of the time, watchmakers should make watches and carmakers should make cars. And that's it. But this recent creation from watchmaker Bell & Ross flips that notion on its head. Meet the company’s stunning AeroGT concept car Crafted by company designer Bruno Belamich, who is more accustomed to the lines of a watch face than the lines of a super car, the AeroGT’s features are said to be inspired by both modern day fighter jets and the iconic grand touring race cars of the ‘50s and ‘60s, like the highly coveted Ferrari 250 GTO. Expectedly and rather sadly, Bell & Ross doesn’t plan to build such a car, but that didn’t stop the company from imagining what the jet-fighting super sports car would be capable of. According to the company, the AeroGT two-seater houses a 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8, which produces a theoretical 610 horsepower, and that’s put to the rear wheels through an eight-speed double-clutch gearbox. The end result of that wallop of power means zero to 60 mph disappears in 2.9 seconds, 1000 meters are covered in 19.8 seconds, and a top speed of 195 mph is plausible. Its sleek body resembles that of a marriage between Porsche’s 918 Spyder hypercar and a rarified Fenyr SuperSport, which is to say, quite a good mix. Telltale jet fighter features include the concept’s cockpit mimicking glass roof, rear stabilizer wing, “turbojet” exhaust pipes, turbine-style wheels, and side mirrors which resemble canards. All told, Bell & Ross says the largely carbon fiber hewn craft tips the scales at just 2,910 pounds. RELATED: The 2017 Jeep Trailcat is a 707-HP Wrangler Concept Car

Precise, sharp, and finely machined, this concept car shares more than a few attributes with today’s expertly engineered timepieces, and in this instance, it actually spawned two of its own—the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 and 03-94 Aero GT models. Only 500 of those timepieces will be built and given their supercar inspiration, once can expect they won’t be cheap. RELATED: This Nissan "Nails" Concept is the Coolest Truck Nobody Would Buy
