Bottpower Turns the Buell XB12 Into a Futuristic Cafe Racer
If you’ve got a spare Buell XB12 taking up space in your garage, you might want to start dusting it off now. Bottpower, a small engineering firm from Valencia, Spain, has created this sleek kit that transforms the speedy Buell from sport bike to cafe racer. It’s called the XC1, and it looks righteous. According to Bottpower, the project initially kicked off in early 2014, as a supplement to the company’s racy XR1 kit, which is also based on the XB12. Slowly the components took shape, were crafted in metal (and carbon fiber), and the end result is a bike with the same handling properties as the Buell, the same power, but with more than 40 pounds of weight stripped away. It's all of course wrapped up in a retro-futuristic body too. Good recipe, no? RELATED: Check Out Daryl Dixon's The Walking Dead Motorcycle
In its conversion, the Buell XB12—or should we say “Bott XC1”—sports a new steel Bottpower spine, matched with a new subframe, stylish main fuel tank, two small secondary fuel tanks, and the quintessential cafe racer humped seat and low-slung clip-on handlebars, along with a few other ancillaries.
The XB12’s standard Showa suspension, brakes, and wheels remain in place, and proud Buell riders probably wouldn’t have it any other way. Tucked within the frame, that 1203cc v-twin still cranks out a familiar 100 horsepower and 81 lb-ft. of torque, however the added tank space now gives it a fuller 4.2 gallons of fuel to drink. Watch out for that racy pronounced air intake on the bike’s flank however, it might suck you in.

From the get-go, the kit was designed to be interchangeable with components from Bottpower’s XR1 kit, meaning you can go from flat-tracker to cafe racer in the span of an afternoon. The components are also available individually or as a bundle, letting you dial-up or down your desired flavor of cafe racer. May we suggest a double shot.
