Indian Adds Some Flavor to its Lineup With Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Bikes

Few companies enjoy the historic brand cachet that the likes of Indian Motorcycle and Jack Daniel’s have gathered over their 100-plus years on US soil. And it appears it was only a matter of time before the two iconic American brands collaborated on a project together.  That day has come, and this is the eye-catching result—the limited edition 2016 Jack Daniel's Indian Chief Vintage. On Friday, Indian announced it had teamed with Jack Daniel’s to bring 150 of these special bikes to life, along with 150 matching versions of the just-announced 2016 Indian Springfield as well. The whiskey-themed cycles commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Jack Daniel Distillery, registered in 1866, which remains the country’s oldest registered distillery. As with a few of Indian Motorcycle's other special edition and concept motorcycles, South Dakota’s Klock Werks Kustom Cycles has handled the unique styling of these Jack Daniel’s bikes, and will hand paint each one before they roll-out to customers. The custom touches include the Jack Daniel’s inspired paint scheme, special badging, logos, “Old No.7” script, and a black leather saddle with matching embossed Jack Daniel’s saddlebags. The Indian Springfield gets hard saddlebags; both come powered by Indian’s 1811cc Thunder Stroke v-twin engine. Written on the back of the front fender is the slogan “Bottles and Throttles Don’t Mix,” helping to remind all that both should be enjoyed separately. Above that are the written signatures of the seven master distillers that have kept the Jack Daniel Distillery running over its 150 year history. Indian says its order books for both sleek motorcycles have now opened, and each retail for $29,999. RELATED: Check Out the Sinister 2016 Indian Chief "Dark Horse"

For those looking to own the very first bike, Indian Motorcycle will auction off the first Jack Daniel’s Indian Chief Vintage at Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction in October. All proceeds are said to benefit Operation Ride Home, which assists active US military personnel in traveling home to see family. RELATED: Check Out Daryl Dixon's The Walking Dead Motorcycle
