Finally, we have some Volkswagen news that does not involve emissions violations, lawsuits, public outrage, or people being fired. This is a happy bit of VW news and it comes in the form of a video prank they staged to promote their Trailer Assist technology. The idea was to get people to realize how the system helps with the tricky business of backing up with a trailer attached to your vehicle. Instead of hooking up the Volkswagen Passat to the trailer and showing the usual video of how it works, they hooked the two up and had the trailer tow the car throught the street. This wasn't a closed course, but public roads in Norway. They drove it through parking lots and intersections and even tackled a roundabout. Random citizens are caught in the background, staring, wondering what exactly it is they're seeing and possibly thinking they need to have their eyes checked. It's a well-done stunt that definitely attracted attention.
