Christopher Walken Stars in Two New Kia Optima Ads
Midsize sedans, in general, are not the most exciting cars you can buy. Practical? Of course. Efficient? Very much so. But dull? Many times, quite. Kia, however, wants to change that sentiment and with the rollout of its stylish new 2016 Optima midsizer, it has recruited none other than Academy Award-winner Christopher Walken for the car’s latest TV ad spots. Walken’s unmistakable voice features in the new ads, titled “Middle C” and “Cookie Cutter,” which describe the Optima as both a "defiant midsize masterpiece" and an "exceptionally tasty treat.” Take a look at both, below. The 2016 Optima, which is assembled at Kia’s West Point, Georgia plant, nets a heavier dose of luxury in its latest iteration, headlined by a highly refined cabin and updated body lines, penned by designer Peter Schreyer. Though it’s a clear visual evolution of its predecessor, the Optima’s new looks are arguably far from what you’d call “cookie cutter.”
The Christopher Walken ads were followed by a pair featuring NBA stars Blake Griffin and LeBron James. The first, titled “Weatherman,” humorously portrays Griffin “in the zone” and forecasting his mid-range jumper making it “rain, rain, rain, rain, rain” in the Los Angeles region. James’ “1,000%” TV spot once again answers the ever-popular question—yes, he does actually drive a Kia K900.
