Mysterious Lamborghini Centenario Supercar Has Already Sold Out

If your New Year’s resolution was to buy the latest limited-production Lamborghini supercar, well…you can scratch that goal off the list early. According to a new report, all 40 iterations of a yet-to-be revealed Lamborghini have already been accounted for by loyal customers.  The clandestine car, expected to be unveiled in full at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, is said to be a celebration of the 100th birthday of company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, born on April 28, 1916. Recent trademark filings suggest it will carry the “Centenario LP 770-4” moniker, which gives credence to a power output of 759 horsepower, however this has yet to be confirmed. According to UK publication Autocar, 20 coupes and 20 roadsters will be built, each based upon the current Aventador supercar, and each carrying a price tag of €2.2 million (about $2.4 million). Let that sink in for a moment. That's for a new car–not some classic racer that Sterling Moss sneezed in one time. RELATED: Trademark Hints Lamborghini Concept Car is Going into Production

The publication states that the celebratory supercar won’t be just a warmed-over version of the Aventador, however. It’s said to intensively feature carbon fiber in its construction, sport entirely different bodywork, and crank even more potential out of the flagship’s 6.5-liter V12. If that 759 horsepower figure does ring true, that will make it 20 hp more powerful than the current top-of-the-pile Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce. Interestingly, it may also be the most feature-dense Lamborghini built to date. Company CEO Stephan Winkelmann mentioned to the magazine that the car had been built with a focus on connectivity, as well as sustainability. R&D chief Maurizio Reggiani reiterated, “this will be the first time we have put so much content into one special car.” It does have big shoes to fill, though. The launch of the rarified supercar follows-up the brand’s other recent limited-production models, including the Lamborghini Reventon, Sesto Elemento, and the Veneno roadster and coupe (pictured). Stay tuned for more on the "Centenario" as the 2016 Geneva Motor Show inches closer. RELATED: Check Out Lamborghini's Modern Day Miura Concept
