McLaren Exposes 675LT Spider Drivers To The Rawness Of the World

There is a raw insanity that is expected from today’s modern supercars. The speed at which they accelerate, the lightness of the overall car, and the “need to rob a bank” price tags all have the ability to make anyone a quivering pile of Jell-O upon contact. Those attributes are amplified when a supercar manufacturer removes the car’s roof.  You’re greeted with more sensation, and infinitely more noise. This is what McLaren has accomplished, as the company has now chopped the roof off the already ridiculous 675LT to make this, the 675LT Spider. RELATED: See More of the McLaren 675LT Spider Here

The new 675LT Spider uses the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine found in the 675LT to deliver 666 horsepower, and 516 lb-ft of torque. This means the new McLaren can sprint from a standstill to 60 miles per hour time in just 2.9 seconds–a feat reserved for only the most special of supercars just a few years ago. To impress further, the 675LT Spider needs only 8.1 seconds to reach 124 miles per hour. That is blisteringly quick. In addition to the open-air elements that give you complete access to the glorious exhausts that spit brimstone and hellfire, McLaren’s engineers managed to reduce the weight of the 675LT Spider by 220 lbs. against the standard 675LT. This gives the 675LT Spider a curb weight of just 2,800 lbs. However, there are some downsides to the new McLaren, chief among them is price. RELATED: Check Out the Stunning McLaren 675LT Here

Unlike McLaren’s new 570S relatively more reasonable price tag of $184,900, the new 675LT Spider will start at an overwhelming $372,600. Nevertheless, it will undoubtedly hold its value quite well since McLaren will only be producing 500 cars globally. We haven’t been able to get behind the wheel of the normal 675LT yet, but if it is anything like the brilliant 650S we drove earlier this year, then McLaren will have us salivating for more as we go deaf from the car’s exhaust pipes.
