The Audi of the Future Looks Like a Giant Computer Mouse
Flying cars? Self driving cars? What does the future hold for the automotive world? It all depends on who you ask, but according to Audi, our future selves may be driving cars that look a heck of a lot like the mouse sitting next to your computer. These concepts are student designs created as a part of an Audi project titled "Design Universe." It encouraged students at four European universities to try and imagine how the Audi of tomorrow might look. The designs are very futuristic and look like something from a movie, not the real world, but that doesn't mean designs like these won't one day be parked in your garage. They're each unique, with the one commonality being the Audi logo, which in at least one concept can change color. The exterior lines of these cars are all smooth and clean with very little embellishment, but the plans for the interiors are much more high-tech. According to TopGear, students presented cars with retina scanners for configuring settings and even reconfigurable seats.
The retina scanner is cool, but are we the only ones who think about all those movies where they have to cut out some poor guy's eye to scan and gain access to a high security government facility? Yeah, we'll pass on that particular feature. We don't need some punk taking our eyeballs to steal our car.
