Three Future Technologies Changing Driving In Years to Come

It seems there's a new automotive technology in the news almost daily. Today's optional extras are becoming tomorrow's standard features and tomorrow's options will blow your mind. Technology is changing how we drive and these three technologies are going to make us safer and more connected than ever. Car-2-X communication systems will provide detailed information about road conditions and speed limits, reduce accidents, and improve traffic flow. Built-in wireless is already in many cars, with Mercedes-Benz offering Car-2-X communication in some of it's models going back to 2013. Imagine not being surprised by a a stopped car around a blind corner or having your car immediately tell you there's an accident and suggest another route. That's the promise of Car-2-X communication. RELATED: Car Technology Countdown to 2018 Building on the idea of Car-2-X communication is networked cars with autonomous features. There are already plenty of autonomous features in cars, including lane keep assist and forward collision mitigation, but that's just the start. Autonomous cars that can communicate with each other can avoid hitting each other without human intervention. This will also change public transportation with taxis that will more efficiently arrive at their destinations. The third game-changing technology is multi-view head-up displays. There are head-up displays in some cars today, but they're minimal. According to AutoEvolution, in the future, they will have more information, directions, speed warnings, and incorporated augmented reality so they're not interfering with a driver's view, but improving that view. Tomorrow's technology will change the way we drive for the better. RELATED: Carnegie Mellon Professor Combating Potholes with Technology
