BAC Offers Up Marine Edition Mono For A Staggering $800K

When BAC first released the Mono, the company stated the car would cost around $130,000. This represented the deal of the century, because the nearest formula-style racecar costs ten times that amount and isn’t street legal. However, as costs for the car grew, the price jumped to roughly $250,000. Although, this additional $120,000 is nothing compared to the BAC's latest price jump of $550,000. According to the company, the supercar manufacturer will now offer an $800,000 BAC Mono. It doesn’t have any more power, offer any better suspension, and it isn’t plated in gold or covered in diamonds. It remains the exact same car we drove a few weeks ago, except for one key difference. It’s salt proof. RELATED: Check Out More Pictures of the BAC Mono Here

Called the Marine Edition Mono, which sounds more like an amphibious assault craft, this new Mono was built for the discerning owner that goes yachting along the Mediterranean. According to BAC co-founder Ian Briggs, “I have always wanted to combine my love of marine and automotive design. The ‘Marine Edition’ Mono represents the ultimate drive-and-arrive experience with great purity of purpose and style.” Along with a new special coating that prevents the Mono from becoming a pile of rust while at sea, the Marine Edition Mono comes with an ‘Environmental Control Container System’, which is essentially a big box that the Mono goes into while stowed on-board. The container allows the owner to control both the temperature and humidity within it. RELATED: Click Here For Pictures of the Psychotic Ariel Atom 3.5

The Marine Edition Mono also has a special carbon fiber crane arm to help hoist the car from the yacht to the dock, and a new set of chassis lifting points to go along with the crane. Each of these cars will be built to order and will be shown off to the yachting public during the Monaco Yacht Show, which starts the 23rd of September and goes until the 26th.
