Execs Are Allegedly Begging for a New Lancia Delta Integrale
In 1987, Lancia introduced the Integrale nameplate to its successful Delta hatchback in order to spice things up a bit. Almost immediately, it won over enthusiasts as it took to the rally stage and claimed a few victories. Today, Lancia isn’t so much about rallying as it is affordable, efficient driving. Such is the case for the new and much less exciting Delta hatchback too. But execs are hoping for a turn around of the once prestigious brand. According to Autocar, high-up Fiat execs are trying to make a business case for a reborn Delta Integrale. Some believe that the death of Lancia would be a huge mistake, though, FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne isn’t sharing in the sentiment. RELATED: See More of the Iconic Lancia Delta Integrale
Currently, Marchionne wants to focus on Alfa Romeo and its revival in the United States, which makes sense. Problem is, that leaves Lancia on the back burner for the time being.
The report doesn’t cite any sources in particular, so we’ll take this news with a grain of salt. Still, the idea of a new Delta Integrale is definitely something we’d like to see.
