This Datsun 280Z Has the 1,000HP Heart of a Supra

[Wastes an hour staring these photos, wastes another two hours looking up 240Zs and Supras on Craigslist, wastes a fourth writing the equivalent of worthless literary drooling]. This is ADV.1 Wheels President Jordan Swerdloff's Datsun 280Z. Dubbed the 2ADZ.1, it's quite a special vehicle for a variety of reasons. After owning a 1983 280ZX Turbo 2+2 as his first car, Swerdloff never shook the pure joy the old Datsun brought him. Now in a prime position to build what he wants, he decided to craft one that could scorch the earth. How? By dropping a Toyota Supra's 3.4-liter turbocharged inline-six 2JZ-GTE into a '78 280 bay. PHOTOS: The Datsun 240Z is a Future Classic The build has an incredibly long list of modifications. It has CP Carrillo pistons, Brian Cower connecting rods, and a Garrett Gt42gtx dual ball bearing turbo to start. It's also equipped with an AEM ECU, HKS twin-disc clutch, a Supra Getrag six-speed manual transmission, a 250 shot of NOS, front and rear coilover suspension, a custom driveshaft, a brake conversion, a new differential. The interior was also redone and is now MOMO everything, complete with Alcantara headliner. The wheels are, of course, ADV5, a ZG fender kit was added, a new carbon fiber front dam was added, and it has a Fairlady carbon fiber rear spoiler. There's plenty more, but it's too much to keep listing. RELATED: ADV.1's Lamborghini Aventador is an Absolute Stunner All of this works together to create some beastly specifications. ADV.1 is claiming more than 1,000 horsepower and an 8.9 quarter-mile run. For street use, the car is detuned to 800 horses. Despite already having a gorgeous blue paint job, this isn't the final look for the car. Swerdloff had Matthew Law render what the product (below) will ultimately look like. The car is set to debut April 26 at the Festivals of Speed event at downtown Miami's Museum Park. If you're in the area, this alone would be worth the trip.
