Did the SCG 003 Supercar Really Break the Nurburgring Lap Record?
When it comes to performance, the pinnacle measure of speed and handling lies within the famed Nurburgring lap time. Since the track’s inception, automakers have been putting their performance cars to the test, hoping to best the competition. Upstart Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) is no different. With a 552-horsepower supercar dubbed the SCG 003, the American marque hopes to beat the likes of Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren. And it might have done just that. But even more mind-blowing, that’s a full 15 seconds faster than the Porsche 918 hypercar (6:57). If it all sounds too good to be true, though, it might be. The figure comes directly from SCG via Instagram…but then even they claim it never actually happened later on Facebook. Due to noise restrictions, the SCG003 was black-flagged from running a record lap, but instead, ran an 8:12 second lap around both the Nurburgring Grand Prix course and the Nordschleife (North Loop), according to Digital Trends. And even then, it was done with weight ballasts and restricted horsepower. Without those limits, SCG says its supercar should “kiss 6:30 on street tires.” Sure, it all sounds impressive— but SCG isn’t getting any applause from us until it actually happens. _____________________________________ Click Here to Read the Original Article on BoldRide
