3 Things to Expect from the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

We’ve all been waiting patiently for the revealing of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. It’s gearing up to be one of the year's biggest reveals already, making it the sixth generation of the famed muscle coupe. But what big changes is Chevy making to its new Camaro? There are a few that we know of so far. The square body will be smoothened out, and the front end will be much sharper, reminiscent of third-gen Camaro from the 80s. We’ve seen Chevy testing the 2016 Camaro with a few third-gens on the street, so it seems Chevy is moving up its retro styling a decade or two, hoping to appeal to a younger generation. It was the same thing when the new Mustang debuted, and so far, we haven’t heard many complaints from the Ford crowd. As the market begins to shift, and emission standards get even tighter, it was only a matter of time before Chevy shoved a four-banger under the hood. But don’t worry, there’s still going to be a V8 option (like the one pictured) and a V6 for all you muscle heads. The Camaro — as with most muscle cars — is a little more bloated than it should be (3,702 lbs). Chevy is going to correct that for 2016. With a lighter engine and a lighter frame, engineers will be able to make the Camaro feel like more of a “sports car,” in line with the Scion FR-S, Hyundai Genesis, and similar cars in its segment. Of course, details on the entirety of the project are still pretty scarce at this point. What we do know for sure is that Chevy will debut its new Camaro on May 16 in Detroit. So be ready.
