The Mercedes GLE is Bad and They Should Feel Bad
You have to give Mercedes credit where credit is due — the AMG GT sportscar looks like a wonderful thing. Even the small GLA SUV adds some much needed personality to the lineup. But for the love of all things good, the new GLE is not something Mercedes should have ever built. Let’s start with the obvious: it’s essentially a clone of the BMW X6. Not surprising since that’s the exact market they’re aiming for. Obviously the front end is very Mercedes-esque, and the backend is reminiscent of a squished S-Class Coupe. But everything else about this car looks utterly useless, just like the X6. RELATED: See Photos of the Mercedes-Benz GLE
The second problem is that they’re calling it a coupe. I’m no mathematician, but that car looks like it has four doors. Trying to cash in on buyer naivety just like BMW, eh Mercedes-Benz?
I would say its only saving grace is that it does have a pretty nice engine lineup. The base 3.0-liter diesel pumps out 255 horsepower, while the 3.0-liter bi-turbo V6 produces 329. Opt for the GLE 63 AMG and you get 570 raging horses from a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8. That's to compete with the X6 M, of course.

Price hasn’t been announced, but it’s probably going to be expensive. Just like the X6. I’ll save all you possible buyers not worried about badge loyalty some trouble — buy the Mazda CX-3. Seriously. Don’t waste your money on crap like this.
