Could this Super Sedan be Faster than the Charger Hellcat?
A few years ago, Bob Lutz came out with a concept car called the VL Destino. Essentially, it was a Fisker Karma EV transformed it into a gas-swilling oil baron with its mind set on watching the world burn. Or in other words, Lutz dropped a Corvette ZR1 engine into the front of the car and yelled “YEE HAW!” However, it’s been quite some time since we heard from Lutz about this pet project. Thankfully, just in time for the LA Auto Show, Lutz dropped some more information about the still upcoming super sedan. RELATED: See More of the VL Destino Super Sedan
The VL Automotive Destino will use the same platform, chassis and outward appearance as the Fisker Karma. Although, the front end has been redesigned to aid air flow into the massive engine, and a full 1,000lbs was removed from the cars total weight. The drivetrain is ripped straight out of the last generation ZR1 which used a supercharged 6.2L LS9 V8 that pumps out a total 630hp to the rear wheels.
Lutz states that when this project finally comes to fruition, the Destino will be “among the fastest four-door cars in the world.” And that it could even be the fastest, knocking off the newly crowned Dodge Charger Hellcat. We'll have to see that drag race.
