Keanu Reeves Started an Expensive Motorcycle Company
Keanu Reeves is a movie star best known for his roles in Point Break, The Matrix and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Now he wants to add motorcycle manufacturer for the rich and famous to his resume. He has launched an outfit called Arch Motorcycle Co. The initial product for the company is a $78,000 motorcycle called the KRGT-1. RELATED: See pictures of the 2014 Tesla Concept Motorcycle
The KRGT-1 is considered fast. At a recent test run on the track at Willow Springs International Raceway near Lancaster, California, professional motorcycle racer Danny Eslick took it up to 138 mph. The engine is an Arch Proprietary S&S Cycle T124 Twin Cam; 124 Cubic Inches; 45° Downdraft Fuel Injected V-Twin with 121 horsepower and 121 lb. ft. of torque. It has BST Ultralight Carbon Fiber wheels. The front are 3”x 19” and the rear are 8”x 18”.
So why are they so damn expensive? Probably because each motorcyle takes hundreds of hours to build by hand.

According to the Los Angeles Times, “Reeves came to motorcycles later in life. When he was 22, he bought a Kawasaki KLR600 while working on a movie in Germany. The bike was stolen, but the hook was set. When he returned to Los Angeles, he bought a classic Norton Commando.”
Reeves has owned a Suzuki GS1100E, Suzuki GSX-R750, 1974 BMW 750, a Kawasaki KZ 900, an ‘84 Harley Shovelhead, and a Moto Guzzi among others. The KRGT-1 started as a one-off custom bike for Reeves, but as it became a reality, the actor started talking about making more of them. Reeves plans to make 100 motorcycles a year at Arch.
