Corvette Vision Gran Turismo Teases Future Design Direction
Gran Turismo 6’s Vision GT program has fast become the ideal place for automakers to show off some of their most radical design concepts from the futuristic 2020 Nissan GT-R to the completely heritage-devoid Aston Martin DP-100. Each concept offers a unique look into the minds of their designers and host nameplates - and this list is about to grow. Chevrolet recently teased its own Vision GT Corvette Concept. Almost no information was given other than the vague announcement of, “When you combine the passion of the video gamer community with the passion of Corvette fans, you get the surprise we have in store for you in a few days. Stay tuned.” RELATED: See Photos of the All-New Corvette Z06
The cryptic message could be pointing to a reveal at next week’s LA Auto Show where GM will also debut the new Cadillac ATS-V. However, just going by the blurry picture Chevy sent out, we can infer there’s no roof, or windscreen. It appears to be an open top racer that has design elements reminiscent of LeMans race cars from the 50’s.
Additionally though, when Nissan released their own GT-R Vision Concept, the company stated that the design could very well influence the next generation GT-R. If true, could the concept pictured above be the basis for the design of those recent resurfaced mid-engine Corvette rumors?
Thankfully, we won’t have that much time to wait since the LA Auto Show kicks off in just a few days. Stay tuned.
