Buy Johnny Cash's Custom 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow

Most of us, when we do a good job, get a pat on the back from our boss. ABC does it differently. The studio bought Johnny Cash a friggin' Rolls-Royce for good ratings. Now you can own it and drive down the road belting out "Ring of Fire" to your little heart's content. The 1970 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow will be auctioned by Barrett Jackson in Las Vegas from Sept. 25 to 27 at Mandalay Bay. The predominantly no-reserve auction will also include Elvis Presley’s ’67 Cadillac Coupe de Ville and the ’63 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe made famous in “Viva Las Vegas.” RELATED: See Photos of a 1907 Silver Ghost Limousine

But it's Cash's Rolls-Royce that catches our eye. ABC gave the felonious crooner the car in gratitude for the ratings of his Johnny Cash Show, which had a successful two-year run on the network. And what a car it is. The Johnny Cash Rolls-Royce comes with provenance including “build to order” specification paperwork. The car was ordered with left hand drive, a privacy partition and factory-provided “JRC” initials in gold on the rear doors. Originally those initials were supposed to be gold guitars, which strikes me as a lot cooler, but Cash apparently wanted the more refined monogram. Of course the Rolls-Royce comes in black. It also featured lambskin rugs in the rear compartment and what was probably a then state-of-the-art Voxson stereo tape player with four speakers. According to Barrett Jackson,"Key specifications include a twin-carbureted 412 cid aluminum V8, independent front and rear suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. This particular vehicle shows 32,000 miles on the odometer and is presented in largely original condition." It comes with three-speed automatic transmission, too.
