New Mazda MX-5 Miata Gets Some Gnarly Virtual Makeovers

The Mazda MX-5 Miata made its debut on Wednesday night in grand style with a livestream of the event which was held simultaneously in the US, Japan, and Spain. The response to this fourth generation of the iconic roadster has been mostly positive, but some would like to see it looking a little more rough and a little less cute. That's your cue, Photoshop. These artist renderings show totally badass, in your face, get out of my damn way, versions of the new Miata. We've only just gotten our first glimpses of the car and don't even have any specs much less details about aftermarket accessories, but that hasn't stopped a few industrious people from modifying the heck out of the car in Photoshop. Designer Hugo Silva has imagined the Miata as a slick, black beast that hugs the ground with huge wheel arches and a grille that looks like its about to take a bite out of the road. A different, though just as beastly version, comes from Ollie Evans. His version of the Miata goes more toward racer.

It gets bold orange accents on the wheel arches and black accents on the hood. Once again, stare at that front end for a second and you'll see this Miata's grinning face coming straight at you. A third rendering by Reddit user /u/Shockwave98 kicks it up even more with a huge rear spoiler and a bright red paint job for another race inspired version of the Miata. The slightly more aggressive getup might have Mazdaspeed enthusiasts drooling. For now,we'll have to wait and see how close real world mods come to these imaginary versions. Which one is your favorite?
