Chevy Colorado to Take on Ford Raptor with Aggressive Off-Road Package?
Ford has pretty much cornered the market on high-performance, off-road pickup trucks with the F-150 SVT Raptor. It’s the best off-road performance pickup you can buy because it’s virtually the only one you can buy. But Chevy might change all that with the introduction of a Raptor-fighting Colorado. According to GM Authority, a source within the company confirmed that the Colorado will see a performance variant in the near future: “the new line of mid-size pickups is on track to offer an aggressive off-road variant equal to that of the Ford Raptor, but in a smaller package.” PHOTOS: See More of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado
That’s good news for anyone looking for some extra punch in their mid-size pickup. Rumor has it that Chevy might even go as far as reviving the ZR-2 badge found on the now defunct Chevy S-10.
It’s an interesting thought, to say the least. With the Colorado and Canyon both getting high-performance packages it could leave the aging Raptor in the dust. Literally.
