Bentley Continental GT3-R: A Race Car Built for the Road
Bentley's heyday of racing was quite some time ago, and since the days of the Bentley Boys, the automaker's involvement in racing has been a bit spotty. But lately, the Continental GT3 racer has posted up some surprisingly good results in its respective racing class. Now — for those of you with some extra scratch — you can own your very own GT3 racer for the road; the Continental GT3-R. Aesthetically, the GT3-R guise gets a more aggressive makeover ranging from 21-inch alloy wheels to titanium exhaust tips and Pirelli racing tires. All finalized by green stitching draped along some high-quality black leather seats, a signature color of Bentley’s motorsports team. PHOTOS: See More of the 2014 Bentley Continental GT3-R
Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which has been tuned to produce an impressive 572 horsepower. To 60 mph, the GT3-R can manage in only 3.6 seconds thanks to a minor weight loss, and it’s all paired to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. Top speed sits at 192 mph.
In total, only 300 units of this exclusive road racer will be built, and all will wear a Glacier White paint job with black and green striping. Bentley will start taking orders today, with deliveries coming later in 2014. No official price was given.
