Watch FMX Rider Jump an Airplane for the Ultimate Stunt [video]
In the modern world of extreme sports, there’s always someone out there who is trying to create the ultimate stunt, and freestyle motocross rider Cody Elkins may have just done that. At the 2014 Cameron Air Show in Cameron, Missouri, Elkins jumped over a biplane, flown by “extreme airshow pilot” Skip Stewart. The key to this stunt is the proper timing to get motorcycle to be able to jump over the plane, and while the amount of air Elkins gets on a mobile ramp setup, it’s the flying skills of Stewart that truly makes this stunt impressive. Not only is Elkins flying just feet off the ground, but he’s also doing so while flying the plane almost sideways.
Just in case you think this stunt looks easy in slow motion, check out another angle of the video Elkins posted on Instagram. This angle does an even better job of showing the close proximity of the two vehicles as well as the seemingly impossible angle at which the airplane is being flown.
But this isn’t the end of this desire to create the ultimate stunt. In an interview with NY Daily News, Elkins not only promises more footage of this particular stunt, but he also hopes to take this stunt to a whole different level by performing a variation that involves doing a backflip over the airplane that is being flown upside down.
