Get Your Real-Life, Viper-Based Banshee from 'Grand Theft Auto' for $170K
Grand Theft Auto is one of the great video game franchises of our time. Sure, it has pushed the envelope on violence, but it has also become a central part of pop culture, and has been lampooned by the likes of Dave Chappelle. And so you know that more than one GTA fan would opt for a real-life version of an in-game car!
Most of the cars in GTA are purposefully vague, so as not to incur any copyright violations. It has kind of become the game-within-the-game for car enthusiasts to try and determine which real-live car a game car is based upon.
One that is a no-brainer is the Bravado Banshee. A favorite among players, it is not hard to see that the Banshee is meant to represent the Dodge Viper. To that end, Rockstar Games and West Coast Customs collaborated on a Viper-based Banshee in 2013. That one-off car is now on eBay for $170,000.
In the game, you only see the exterior of the car, but that didn't stop the creators of the real-life Banshee from making even the interior accurate. The typically spartan interior of the Viper was fitted with red stitching, the Banshee logo on the seat-backs and steering wheel, as well as “Banshee” badging on the right side of the dash. If you have $170K and want this baby, you better act fast- the offer ends on Thursday, June 5.
