Mini Might Actually Build the Superleggera Concept
What happens when you mix British roadster genius with a bit of Italian flare? You get one of the coolest concept cars of recent history — the Mini Superleggera concept, which debuted this past week in Italy. If there’s one thing we’ve learned about awesome concept cars though, it’s the unlikelihood of them actually being built. It really is a shame. But this Mini concept may not let us down after all, if CEO Peter Schwarzenbauer has anything to do with it (which he totally does): PHOTOS: See More of the 2014 Mini Superleggera Concept
“To manage a successful brand, you should never stop investigating,” Schwarzenbauer told Automotive News. Continuing on, he said that the Superleggera concept was a “superhero” that they would consider building.
If execs do approve the roadster for production, early estimates suggest it would cost a heaping €35,000 ($47,700), which is right in between Mazda MX-5 and Jaguar F-Type territory. Whether the concept would carry over the electric powertrain is unlikely, but don’t rule it out.
