BMW i8 Defies "the Impossible" in Star Studded Ads

Carmakers are always trying to push the boundaries of what’s possible. BMW might just be doing it a little bit more literally than the rest. The German automaker brought in big names for its most recent ad campaign, aimed at defying the impossible. BMW enlisted the help of Gus Van Sant, director of Good Will Hunting, Milk, and Promised Land, to direct three new advertisements for the upcoming BMW i8 sports car. The ads draw from three different themes – "Attitude", "Power", and "Genesis" – but all portray the hybrid i8 as the defining sports car of tomorrow. Actors Mickey Sumner, Sam Hazeldine, and Michael Pitt donate their talents to the screen and star in each of the segments. It’s powerful stuff, but not as powerful as the star itself. The three-cylinder i8 hybrid shoots from zero to 60mph in just 4.4 seconds and travels all the way up to a limited 155mph. It hits the market at $136,000 in July.
